My precious Conner was born July 13, 1999. He was so big
and appeared to be a healthy boy. What we didn't realize
was that he was missing a crucial gene he needed to keep
his muscles from deteriorating. By the time Conner was about 2
months old, we began noticing signs of deterioration. At about 8
months he received a final diagnosis of Spinal Muscular
Atrophy, type 1.
Conner faced his life and death with such bravery. He was
and will always be my hero. Despite the pain and suffering
he faced just to live another day, he laughed and loved, but
most of all he tried. He never gave up, and continues to
persist!
Conner's Place was established in 2002 after Conner's death
as a way to keep his spirit alive and give back to a community
that gave so much to us during our difficult time. Conner is
the spirit behind our work here. I am so thankful to the team
of workers at Conner's Place that continues to build our good
reputation and good name.
